About
Yu is currently the best known international pilot in China as he participates in many international competitions, with more than 500 hours of flying time each year. He has reached several personal milestones as the World Championships, the World Cup and the qualification for the Red Bull X-Alps. He founded the XB Advanced Flight School and is committed to improving the cross-country and racing level of Chinese pilots.

Do you remember your first flight? How was it?
The first time was a tandem flight in Kanas Lake in Xinjiang. The moment of escaping gravity was very wonderful.
What moments make flying worthwhile?
When the whole world is quiet during the final glide of a cross-country flight. Competetions allow me to fly with top pilots, broaden my horizon and help me make great progress. The hike & fly that I have been training for Red Bull X-Alps has brought my body and mind to another level.
Your three top flying areas?
- My hometown Sichuan, which is also the home town of pandas
- Inner Mongolia, it's the place for long-distance records
- Anjishan, it's one of best places to practice for competetions
What are you doing on a day that is not flyable?
Provide publicity and promotion for many brands. I create short videos to promote our sports to fans of Douyin, Wechat video, and Rednote. I teach students in person or live online. And physical training has become a part of my life.

Why do you fly for ADVANCE?
My first glider when was learning acro was a ZETA and I was impressed by its excellent performance and comfortable feel. My idol Chigel Maurer introduced me to the OMEGA. I admire the profound heritage and history of ADVANCE and the excellent design and concept of the products, which are worthy of further understanding by tens of thousands of Chinese pilots. The brand's recognition makes me proud to join this family for a long time.

Of course it's spicy hot pot.
